Book Review - One Second After, by William R. Forstchen

One Second After, by William R. Forstchen

New York Times bestselling author William R. Forstchen now brings us a story which can be all too terrifyingly real.. Months before publication, One Second After had already been cited on the floor of Congress as a book all Americans should read, a book already being discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a truly realistic look at a weapon and its awesome power to destroy the entire United States, literally within one second. It is a weapon that the Wall Street Journal warns could shatter America. In the tradition of On the Beach, Fail Safe and Testament, this book, set in a typical American town, is a dire warning of what might be our future...and our end.

Eric Wilson’s Review: This book to me was less about a warning of potential disasters or omens of things to come but a great human interest story. This book shows human nature and the way people react and interact. Scary and true it shows how delicate of a social infrastructure we truly have and how quickly in the face of a crisis society breaks down. Reading other’s reviews everyone seem to focus on the EMP and the specifc preparedness for this threat. Once again my opinion but if you read this just as a thriller or just look at this just only has the aftermath of an EMP you missed something in this book. Recommended read for anyone but read it to think about the broader crisis (insert anything here) that is coming and even more about being physically prepared but mentally and emotionally.
