When you evaluate everything we stand for – a wide premise that we attempted to summarize with the tagline “preserving self, family, community” – you will find a core of values that is often perfected by the nurturing family matriarchs among us.
It is no wonder then that we have been blessed with a strong contingent of devoted mothers (and grandmothers) that have chosen to join the conversations on this site and have contributed many of our best articles and commentary along the way.
While the world around us may continue to swirl with controversy and complexity, it is the steadfast resolve of tireless mothers everywhere keeping our homes running with the harmony that is so necessary to instill the principles of self-reliance in our next generation.
We place a special emphasis with our site on faith, education, family, and self-improvement. Shifting the priorities of our nation back to these foundational elements and away from our current culture of declining morals and growing government dependence is our best hope for making a lasting positive impact on the world we leave behind for our children. No individuals are better equipped or positioned to fight for these goals than moms.
Mothers play a mammoth and unmistakable role in grounding our children in the importance of faith. Make sure your kids see you praying, know that you are praying for them, and come to understand the power of prayer. If we raise a generation of prayer warriors, no obstacles the world presents will slow them down.
From the first steps and first words of a baby to the decisions from kindergarten to college, mothers are the driving force behind the educational paths that their children walk. Instill the love and excitement of lifelong learning in your kids. This will be a gift that no amount of time or distance will be able to take away from them, and it will leave a legacy of personal growth and strength in their lives.
If there is one area that mothers struggle with, it is often in finding time for “self” pursuits. The maternal instinct to be selfless and put the needs of the family above their own is ever-present but must be resisted at times. Your children need to see – through the actions of the mother they adore – that life is best lived in a well-rounded fashion. Show them the joy of pursuing a hobby about which you are passionate or the thrill of accomplishment in learning a new skill. Your kids appreciate the constant support they receive from you, and they love when the opportunity arises to return that favor and cheer for their mom.
Without the hard work and glowing examples of mothers, the goals and aims of Brush Fire Forum are hopeless. We need you. Your family needs you. Your community needs you. Not just any you, either, but your “best self.” The world needs you tuned in, active, learning, growing, and constantly challenging yourself and your family to be better than you were the day before.
Mothers are the heart and soul of Brush Fire Forum and America.
Happy Mother’s Day from all of us to all of you.
